Zoningforstandard‐availabilitysystems
ThebasiczoningrequirementforVTLsolutionsthatdonotimplementthehigh‐
availabilityfeature isthateachSANzonecontainonlyoneinitiatorandonetarget,
asshowninthefigurebelow.
Youzonestandard‐availabilityVTLsystems thesameway,regardlessofthetypeof
zoningyouuse.In
asoft‐zonedSAN,eachtargetandini tiator isdefinedbyalogical
WorldWidePortName(WWPN),whileinahard‐zonedSAN,target andinitiator
aredefinedbyphysicalportnumbers.But,ineithercase, youhaveoneclient
initiatorand oneVTLtargetperzone.
