Thisallowsyoutoremovethereplicationconfigurationontheprimaryandeither
deleteorpromotethereplicaresourceonthetargetserveratthesame tim e.

Ifaprimaryvirtual tapeisdamage dorcorrupted,administratorscanrestorethe
databypromotingtheequivalentreplica.Afterpromotion,thevirtualtapeis
placedinthevirtualvaultontheform ertargetse rver(nowtheprimary).An
administratorcanthen:
■ movethevirtualtapetoavirtuallibraryonthelocalserver
■ replicatethevirtualtapebacktotheoriginalsourceserver.
Oncepromoted,areplicaresourcecannotreverttobeingareplicaresource. You
mustcreateanewreplicationconfigurationforthenewprimarytape.
TInorderto main tain theintegrityofrestoreddata,theVTLsoftwarewillnot
promoteaninvalidreplica
resource,suchasareplicathat hasbeendamagedorleft
incomplete byatransmissionfault.Itwilllikewise refusetopromoteareplica
resourcewhileareplicationisstil linprogress.
1. IntheobjecttreeoftheVTLconsole,expand theVTLtargetservernode,expand
theVirtual Tape Library SystemandReplica Resources
nodes.
2. UndertheReplica Resourcesnode,right‐clickonthereplicathatyouwantto
promote(
